IT'S ABOUT AS COUNTRY, AS COUNTRY GETS

IT'S OVER
and that is sad
for me
If you read my last post, you know
I had my daughter and her two girls
and DIL and her little gal and son
visit me for TWO WEEKS

Can you scream wheeee with me and jump up and down
thanks

So
I thought I'd try and gather some of the Best of the Country Best
to show you
of all the FUN things we did

I had been working on the little cabin for over a month
and it worked out Great

But it has no "facilities"
so normally I'd say, "hey, do the country squat"
but Mr. Gorgeous also decided
THIS
would be helpful

Heck
that practically turned my lodgings into a FIVE STAR get away
(it was out back behind the cabin)

we called it Cowgirl/boy Test
as I had a whole list of things the kids had to do to Earn their
country status
Kinda like Merit Badges in Scouts....only COOLER
they loved being able to put a star
by each of the things they accomplished.

My DIL however is a little city-fied
she said she'd love to be a cowgirl...
if it was more like the TV show Dallas
(made me giggle)

Mr.Gorgeous's mom was visiting with us the first day
so here she is ...with what has become her 4 Great Grandchildren

how do you like my 4 country bumpkins

We went to a Local Rodeo.....seriously
THEY HAD NEVER BEEN TO ONE BEFORE

It was fun to watch their faces
The oldest loved the "cow penning" the best..........go figure

we were sitting right up by the fence
Great initiation for these potential country kids to get a little dirt
in their face
and feel the horses hooves pound right beside them

This is one of my favorite photos

A walk in the fields is always fun

Me and my daughter and DIL tried to make it PRETEND
saying that, once we got to the trees
is was where the fairy's live
and you could make a wish

But this little Annie Oakley
was a little miffed

she said, "I wish for this stick to turn into a horse"
(um, it didn't....dang fairies)
She said YOU LIED !!!
she is sooooo literal
gotta love the straw in her mouth

She loves our horses

She wanted to be with them every day
and when grandpa (Mr. G) would lead her around on them
 she was thrilled

We even talked little Roy Rogers in training
to get on the horse

(his sister, the one with the pink fly swatter
she never did....I think she, like her mom
prefers the Dallas version as well)

But her MOM DID
and she and my daughter went riding with my hubby

We went swimming at the Creek

that way you can get mud between your toes
and wherever else

oops, not happy

They all loved the tubing

(hmmmm, the facial expression doesn't really express that)
Don't SPLASH ME

Even Mr. Gorgeous and Lucy had a good time

We did a Treasure Hunt in the area around our pond
It turned out really FUN

They had to follow all the clues

FOUND ONE !!!!

Frogs discovered

(Sue Ellen Ewing would be Proud)

(DIL and son)
COUNTRY....EQUALS......PEACE

and NEW Discoveries
(my daughter...and her daughter)

and at the end of each day
as we crawled our tired bodies into bed
instead of dreaming of Sugar Plums

I dreamt of stupid fairies who don't turn sticks into horses.

(next post, part two)
sorry YES YES YES, this was only part one
Next time you visit here, make sure you have a soda and snack while you sit and read this
I'M SORRY THERE ARE SO MANY PHOTOS...said NO GRANDMA EVER !!!

Don't be sorry about posting the pictures. They are lovely. I can't tell you how I laughed at your DIL and the Dallas reference. Is she a HMO? Too funny.

Your pictures of the grandkids are precious. It looks like you had a wonderful time. So much so that you should plan a trip out here. Ha ha. Cheer up...you will see them soon.

Oh my goodness, what wonderful pictures! Each one tells such a great story! Those grandchildren are absolutely GORGEOUS! I'm loving the matching pink hat/fly swatter. My wonderful MIL used to recite the cutest poem: "I love the lights of Paris, I've seen the lights of Rome, But best of all the taillights of the grandkids going home!" However, I know she relished every moment with them. Enjoy the rest of the summer!

Warmly, Michelle

Oh Wendy, this post is so darling I just keep looking at everything over and over. Your darling grands will never forget the fun times visiting you. The pink hat and the fly swatter photo is a photo you should send to Country Living Magazine. Do you ever read it?

The facilities made me laugh so hard. We would go camping with our big family and it would be rural with no facilities. My dad always built one. He dug a hole fixed a tent and had a toilet seat installed on something he would make out of wood. More like an outhouse. Then when we left he would fill in the hole with dirt. We had such fun camping together. We had a Volkswagen Camper Van with a tent that attached. We slept 7 in that van. Our children were small. Tell Mr. Gorgeous his idea was a whole lot nicer. HA!

The Rodeo and the horses, the swimming and the mud was so much fun. I love the expression on the "don't splash me" photo.

Thank you for sharing your grands, daughter and DIL with us. I am looking forward to part two.

I couldn't tell where your hubby's arm was even injured. Is he doing alright? He and Lucy playing was so cute.

Bring on the next part girl. You can never have too many pics and I love your sense of humor when you are writing.

I love you too.

I saw this the day you posted it, but I couldn't for the life of me type on my iPad for some reason. I really ADORE all the pics Wendy, but Barry sure gave me a great idea for the potty chair. That is so stinkin' cute.. no pun intended.. well actually yes pun intended, lol.
I know you miss them all already, but now you can sleep in and catch up on your Pinterest board, lol.
I should be packing for tomorrow's adventure, but I think I'll go in the pool instead. It's been very rainy this last week. Yesterday Colt and I were in Ottawa, and the day before at Costco, so it's time to go float around. No Randy or Colt today to float my boat though. They are both downtown at work. Just me and the dogs. I just called Lucy Delfino in NY. She's awaiting our visit. I told her I would pick her up some maple syrup from here and some curd cheese.
You always tell such a great story with your pics Wendy, and I sure miss our time together from last year. I have a feeling I'm going to go into a funk when the doc gives me my date for my surgery. Anxiety is already hitting me some nights.
But the good news is a straight back with hopefully less pain in the ass, lol...
Oh crap, can't forget our passports. K gotta go BGF. Randy and I will probably go to Forrest Gump's again to eat in Time Square.
I'm not spell checking.
Loved this post but won't see the next one till I get back next Monday.
Love you and MISS YOU xoxoxoxoxo

WENDY!!!!!!!!

YOU HAVE escorted me into a magical place that I long to be in dearest.....oh my goodness, your little FIVE STAR GETAWAY is number ONE for me! I just love how you had this magical (and well-structured) time for these fantastically cute kids! What super fun. This is a summer that they will never forget, and you know what you did? YOU GAVE THEM NEW EYES MY DEAR!!! You, I just KNOW, have opened their eyes and your DIL's eyes to new and fascinating things. I love every moment of INITIATION into the country that you had for them, and to also give them a sense of accomplishment. That was super.

It sure is good to see you my friend. Thank you for coming to visit with me. I have had a crazy busy summer, but what a beautiful time I spent with visiting friends and family.

Do you know that I always wanted a horse? When I was very little, I at least wanted a wooden hobby horse. NOPE, never got it. Then I wanted one of those horse heads on a stick with the little wheel on the end....never, ever got it. So I just used a broom!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Minnesota State Fair is a-happenin' next week and I told my husband he best take me because I want to rub every velvet nose in sight. I got a blue ribbon a couple of years back for milking a goat! AND I AM 100% CITIFIED!!!!!

LOVE TO YOU PRECIOUS WENDY! Anita
